Slow thread today. It was a slow episode anyway in an otherwise breather arc after the rollercoaster that was Baran's arc. We'll get into the action next episode and Maam will finally get her much needed spotlight.

Nice headcanon, the only people who give two shits about the tights (especially after last arc) are m/a/nchildren. She's been shown to have them in the ED for ages now and even in the mobile game before the anime even aired.

I kind of wish they had done a bit more of Popp talking with Maam about why Dai needs the sword but I can understand why they made it brief.

この作品かなり気に入っていて、バランとの戦いは最高に良かった。唯一の不満は、ダイがザボエラの息子を相手にしていること。バランと戦った時と比べて、あまりにも弱っちくみえてしまう
I've been liking the series quite a lot, the fight with Baran was an absolute delight. My only complaint is seeing Dai jobbing against the Zaboera's son. Like he looks way too weak compared to when he fought against his father.

超魔生物ってドラクエⅣの進化の秘宝を元にしたアイデアだと常々思ってた。それがダイの物語や作品の進行によくマッチしてる
I always thought that the idea of the Hyper Demon was a reference to Dragon Quest IV's secret of evolution.
Which fits nicely to Dai's narrative and progression of the show.

He's not nerfed though, he's affected by the lack of a proper weapon and expanding too much energy at once. Even the episode before this touched on that aspect.

この漫画がこんなに人気になるとは作者も思っていなくて、元いた6人の軍団長しか計画していなかったって印象があるな。キルバーンや竜騎衆、チェスの駒が登場したときもそう思ったけど。こいつらのことも大好きだけど、原作の長さを3倍にするために後付けした感が否めない
I have the impression that the authors didn’t thought the comic would be this popular and only planed the original six commanders and that’s was about it, I stared with this feeling after they introduced Killburn, the Drangon Riders and the Chess Pieces, mind you I love them all but they feel definitely as an afterthought to increase 3 times the length of the original comic.

That's likely the case. It got renewed sometime around Barans arc and he was ready to end things as early as the Hadlar confrontation if it didn't sell well enough. With them leaving the island as an open ending.

とは言えミストバーンは最後までずっと残り続けたし、偽勇者たちが旅に出て、最終的に雪国に辿り着くとこまで意図的に描写したりとか最後に物事がうまくいくところを計画的にうまく練られていた部分も少なからずあったよ
With that said Myst Vearn lasted pretty much all the way to the end and quite a lot of the manga had to be extremely well-planned so that things would line up at the end like the manga purposely showing the fake heroes making a trip and eventually ending up in a snowy region.

Chiu is surprisingly popular in the overall fanbase. It's just that he's a little annoying in his first appearance. He's a fun addition especially because he brings a bit of levity. Popp did that early on but he gets shifted into a serious fighter role so he can't bring as many laughs.

For me, it's the Kill Vearn and Hadlar battle back to back. This manga really knew how to throw in some spectacular 'Oh shit!' boss fights that would have left me screaming if it was a real RPG.
